Cal Crutchlow Ducati officially joined the race for the seasons 2014 and 2015, as reported by the BBC. This means Crutchlow will race for the first time with the motor manufacturer in MotoGP. Crutchlow will fill the position left by Nicky Hayden.
This year 27 riders have expressed a desire to be able to race with the motor manufacturer, but can not be met by the Yamaha. Yamaha Factory Racing've got Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo.
The British rider more anger ignited last May when Yamaha in talks with Moto2 rider, Pol Espargaro, to fill the position at Tech 3 Yamaha. While the contract is now his teammate, Bradley Smith, will expire the end of the 2014 season. That is, there would be no place anymore for Crutchlow.
But Yamaha have expressed their desire to hold Crutchlow. Yamaha conscious, Crutchlow has great potential and is too valuable to be removed. Up to nine series run this season, Crutchlow had four podium finishes and is now ranked fifth standings.
Move to Ducati, means Crutchlow will re-join former team-mate, Andrea Dovizioso, who closed last season with ranks fourth in the standings, with Tech 3.
Yamaha is likely to soon announce a replacement Pol Espargaro as Crutchlow, after Ducati issued an official announcement about their new recruitment.
